Our Leadership
A council of Spirit-appointed menBiblical Leadership
a plurality of Elders
The New Testament teaches that Christian eldership is pastoral leadership of the local church by a council of qualified, Spirit-appointed men. The New Testament defines elders as shepherds, overseers, stewards, and leaders of the local church (Acts 20:28; 1 Peter 5:1; Phil. 1:1; 1 Tim. 3:1; Titus 1:7; 1 Tim. 5:17).
Chuck Stover
Elder
At the age of 40, God in his mercy effectually called Chuck into his kingdom. He is a retired dentist and has been married to his wife, Lillian, for 30 years.
Sovereign Grace Baptist Church was started from a Bible study in the home of Chuck and Lillian with the help of two pastors outside of London. They have had the blessing of seeing God grow SGBC from a handful of faithful people into the established church it now is.
Jim Sisco
Elder
Jim and his wife, Herminia, were among the group of people that were called to plant SGBC. They continue to enjoy the many opportunities that God provides to serve Him. They are both deeply thankful for His faithfulness and loving kindness.
Jim came to faith through the radio ministry of ‘Back to the Bible’ in 1979 at the age of 23. He has many years of experience on church boards, having served as an elder in two churches and chaired elder boards for almost twenty years.
Marc Bertrand
Adjunct Elder
Marc is married to Michelle with four children, Micah, Tabitha, Samuel and Elijah. He has served as pastor at Walsh Baptist Church since January of 2003.
God called him to be a founding pastor of our church and he continues to serve as an Adjunct Elder.
